79th Independence Day Celebration – 15th August 2025 and Flag Hoisting Ceremony

The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated with great pride and patriotic fervour on 15th August 2025 at the shared campus of SCMHRD and SCIT. The event was a moment of unity, with students, faculty, staff, and alumni joining together to pay tribute to the nation and its glorious journey of independence.

The celebrations commenced at the main entrance of the campus with the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag by the Directors of the three institutes,  Dr. Netra Ganesh Neelam (Director, SCMHRD), Dr. Dhanya Pramod (Director, SCIT), and Dr. Alka Maurya (Director, SIIB). The National Anthem echoed across the campus as the tricolour fluttered gracefully in the morning 8:30 am with breeze, instilling a deep sense of pride in everyone present. The sight of saluting faces and the vibrant flag created a powerful moment that set the tone for the day’s events.

Inspirational Addresses by the Directors and Recognition of Support Staff

Following the flag hoisting, the gathering moved to the atrium for the formal segment of the program. The opening address was delivered by Dr. Dhanya Pramod, Director of SCIT, who welcomed everyone and spoke on the importance of youth participation in shaping India’s future. She was followed by Col. S.K. Mishra (Retd.), Campus Administrator, who highlighted the significance of discipline, responsibility, and unity in national progress.

Dr. S. B. Mujumdar addressed the gathering virtually, expressing his pride in the campus community and urging everyone to uphold the values of freedom and unity.

A special highlight of the program was the felicitation of Support Staff. Recognising their exceptional contribution to the smooth functioning of the institutes, the Directors honoured them on stage and presented them with a Token Of Appreciation. The heartfelt applause from the audience reflected the deep respect and gratitude towards these unsung heroes.

Cultural Extravaganza and Audience Participation & Atmosphere

The celebrations continued with a lively cultural program at the atrium, where the SCIT music team and SCIT dance team took centre stage to showcase the rich diversity of India through their captivating performances. The music team delivered soulful patriotic songs that resonated with the audience, while the dance team presented graceful and energetic routines that celebrated the vibrancy of the nation’s culture. Each performance was met with resounding applause, filling the atrium with pride and excitement.

The audience’s participation was equally spirited, chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” echoed through the venue, and every face reflected joy and patriotism. Faculty, students, and staff from all three institutes came together in a colourful display of unity. The festive decorations, tricolour-themed attire, and smiling faces made the celebration a truly memorable occasion.

Closing Note

The 79th Independence Day celebration at the SIC campus was more than just a formal event,  it was a reaffirmation of the values that bind us as a nation. From the inspiring speeches and recognition of the Support staff to the vibrant cultural performances, the day brought the community closer together in the spirit of patriotism.

As the tricolour continued to wave proudly against the sky, it reminded everyone of the courage, peace, and progress it stands for. The celebration left each attendee inspired, motivated, and committed to contributing to a stronger and more united India.
