Finance Centre of Excellence is designed to provide students with advanced skills in applied finance required in today's competitive financial environment. The programme provides a strong foundation in economics and teaches quantitative and analytical skills employed in investment structuring, pricing, and risk management of financial instruments, in the development of trading strategies, and in the utilization of financial products by end-users. This curriculum has been developed in consultation with leading industry professionals and incorporates an extensive use of industry software. A finance concentration prepares students for careers in corporate finance and treasury management, investment banking, commercial banking, insurance, and portfolio management. seminars in financial services industry such as Banking, Insurance and Risk
Management. Banking conclave on 'Basel-II Norms' and 'Microfinance' was held in
Mumbai in February 2007, where elite professionals from banking fraternity
successfully discussed and debated over these topics which are the buzzwords in
banking nowadays. Prior to this, our maiden banking conclave was held in
November 2005 on Basel-II norms, Consolidation, Foreign Banks and Banc
assurance.
In the past a seminar on Risk management
titled “Risk Management Seminar – An industry perspective” was organized on November
24,2007 at the JW Marriot, Mumbai.This year we are continuing
the series with an “Integrated Risk Management
Seminar” in association with MCX on the 5th of December, 2009 at the Le Meridien in Mumbai, where industry
experts have been invited to speak on their experiences in risk
management
One of our major initiatives has been the
generation and dissemination of quality information with respect to Finance, in
the form of a monthly magazine called the FINALYST.
“The FINALYST” is our major research initiative - a
monthly publication covering articles on current finance topics across all major
industries contributed by students, alumni and corporate executives. This also
includes an in-depth pre-budget and post-budget analysis every year in
February.
Starting from this year we have also come up with a
new publication titled “The Knowledge Series” , directed primarily at students
in order to familiarize them with some of the key finance topics that they wish
to know more about.
